To make green greener: The GreenFluencer Academy

An educational program by the IRI Center and the Faculty of Economics in Split to boost the visibility of green topics.

Over the past decade, being an influencer has become one of the impactful professions in the digital world. With the explosion of social media and modern advertising methods, the role of influencers has evolved into a vital part of marketing strategies worldwide. Influencers, known as individuals who impact their communities, are now indispensable in promoting products, services, and ideas. Their power lies in their authentic and engaging approach that builds audience trust. However, when it comes to green and sustainable topics, this power of influence remains underutilized, especially within the local community in Split. We decided to change that.

The GreenFluencer Academy, developed as part of the C2T project initiative, is designed as an educational platform for anyone interested in combining marketing, ecology, and sustainability. The goal of the Academy is to educate participants to raise awareness of environmental issues and promote sustainable practices and green topics.

An 8-week program focused on key skills:

  • Education on green sustainability: How to promote ecological values and actions.
  • Technical and digital skills: Gaining knowledge of content creation tools and analytics tracking.
  • Media and marketing proficiency: Developing strategies to grow personal brands and reach.
  • The art of storytelling: Creating authentic narratives that inspire audiences.
  • Business skills: Understanding the financial and legal frameworks in which influencers operate.

The program is ideal for influencers, volunteers, members of environmental organizations, corporate creatives, graduates, and anyone seeking to professionalize their influence-related activities.

Building a network of change-makers

Through the GreenFluencer Academy, the aim is to create a network of influencers who will drive change and spread awareness about the importance of ecological sustainability. A team of experts in the field of media and marketing, including Gordan Turković, Barbara Slade Jagodić, Jere Gruić, and others, ensures a high level of education and practical knowledge.

In the end, influencers are not just product promoters – they are leaders of change. With the tools and knowledge gained through the GreenFluencer Academy, anyone can turn their passion for ecology and sustainability into a career that is meaningful and impactful.
