Mushroom Cups – From trendsetter to everyday healthy routine

Proudly presenting one of the stakeholders of the Capacity2Transform project, Mushroom Cups, who enthusiastically accepted the invitation from IRI CENTER to participate in the project.

In a realm where a healthy lifestyle and innovation intersect, they stand as an excellent model of sustainable business and digital transformation. As part of this project, they will impart their skills to others and cultivate entirely new ones. The Mushroom Cups team underscores how EU funds and various platforms supporting entrepreneurial development provided a significant boost when they needed it the most.
And on top of it all, they go to work by bike.

Long story short

In 2016, when Stipe Režić, one of the founders and owners of the Split-based brand Mushroom Cups, established a company dedicated to producing mushroom coffee in the heart of Dalmatia, where liters of Brazilian arabica are consumed, many scoffed at this business venture! Today, eight years later, no one looks at Mushroom Cups as a trendy, doomed-to-fail business idea but rather as a thriving venture that grows day by day. It wasn’t easy, but with excellent teamwork and the support of European funds, Stipe begins to live his entrepreneurial dream.

Stipe, once a professional athlete, found inspiration for Mushroom Cups in his own experiences with medicinal mushrooms. Family circumstances and the successful treatment of his father’s health issues became the catalyst for starting the business.

Why is mushroom coffee an increasingly consumed alternative?

Mushroom Cups is no longer an intriguing phenomenon but rather a cup of daily energy encountered in offices, cafes, and homes. It has long crossed the borders of Croatia and can be found in other parts of Europe, especially in Spain and America. In addition to offering a lower caffeine content and a mild flavor, coffees with mushroom extracts provide diverse health benefits.

All Mushroom Cups coffees are produced from wild mushrooms or organically grown mushrooms. The core of their business model lies in the import of high-quality coffee from Peru and combining it with local mushrooms. Lion’s mane, chaga, cordyceps, and especially wild Mediterranean chanterelles, mushrooms rich in vitamins D and B, iron, copper, potassium, and manganese, form the basic ingredients of this unique coffee. The choice of mushroom extracts allows producers to customize the effects of the coffee according to consumers’ needs.

Mushroom Cups stands out for exclusively using double mushroom extracts. Double extraction ensures that the most potent ingredients, such as soluble beta-glucans and triterpenes, end up in the coffee, providing the highest medicinal value. Mushrooms are carefully picked, dried, ground, and subjected to extraction to obtain a powder rich in medicinal ingredients. Testing ensures high-quality extracts before they are used in blends with organic Arabica.

Sustainability, innovation, and health

The brand’s digital transformation, from raw material selection to online presence, is reflected in production, packaging, and distribution. The use of local mushrooms, organic cultivation, vegan products without sugar and additives make Mushroom Cups an environmentally responsible and sustainable brand. They serve as proof to all those who want to create products with a positive impact on health and the environment.
